Skylight is a modern event space located in the Arts District in Denver. It holds up to 200 guests and is a space with some interesting light. During the late afternoon in Autumn, sunlight creates some vivid orange hues that reflects off the orange building next door.
Taylor & Spencer rented an Air BnB to get ready for their Denver wedding. It was a nice space that had some great light. I don’t normally shoot portraits but I couldn’t help but get a few of Taylor with some dramatic light coming through the window. They had two units which offered privacy from one another so the bride and groom didn’t see each other before the ceremony.
The Skylight is located in the Santa Fe Arts District. The ceremony was held out back. It’s basically a parking lot converted into a ceremony space that features a large cement wall that changed to a nice warm hue color during sunset.
Skylight is an industrial space that features clean walls for easy decorating for any kind of design. I appreciate the modern white walls instead of the typical brown wood colors often seen in Colorado venues. I can bounce some flash and use the space like a giant soft box or I can choose to create some dramatic light by placing several off camera flashes aimed directly at the dance floor. Since it’s located in the heart of the city, travel is easy for guests staying in Denver. There’s nearby art galleries within walking distance with lots of colorful decorated walls which makes a great alternative spot for photos. The venue has a nice urban vibe that’s perfect for couples who are looking for hosting a wedding in the city.
Taylor & Spencer spent their time getting portraits with all of their college buddies after dinner and then danced the night away. Although their isn’t much for lighting at Skylight, the videographer used several video lights to light up the dance floor.
